Ms. Jacqueline Wisecarver
Jacqueline earned her B.S. in Child Development and Psychology at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. During this time Jacqueline received her Montessori Diploma from The Montessori World Institue in both the Pre-primary and Primary units. While working on her undergraduate degree, Jacqueline student taught at the ASI Children’s Center and The Montessori Children’s School in San Luis Obispo, CA. Working with children has always been a life-long passion and dream. Following in her Grandmother, June Wisecarver’s footsteps, Jacqueline strives to keep the legacy and reputation of Morning Glory alive. Some of Jacqueline’s favorite hobbies are spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking, and snowboarding.
Ms. Katrina Palanca (Head Teacher)
Ms. Katrina has worked in early childhood for over 20 years. Teaching in programs such as Creative Play Corner and for the last 13 years at Tulane Montessori in San Mateo. Ms. Katrina received her Montessori credential at The Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area through The American Montessori Society. She has a real passion for early childhood education and has two young children of her own.
Mrs. Mary DeLoach (Teacher)
Mary earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Education and her American Montessori Society credential at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. She taught four years at Kawaiahao Childcare Center (Montessori school serving children ages 2.5 years – to 9 years). Mary came to us from Discovery Children’s House in Palo Alto where she worked as a Head Teacher, Site Director and Assistant Director for 19 years. Mary has also enjoyed teaching parenting and Positive Discipline workshops for over 30 years with the Navy and Army Family Service Centers and various school and parent groups. While in Hawaii she participated with the mediation program at the Neighborhood Justice Center. She and her husband John have one married daughter, Kimberly. Mary enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her cat, Karbon. She also likes crafts, calligraphy, garage sales, and collecting vintage Christmas ornaments.
Mrs. Heidi Levy (Teacher)
Heidi’s interest in child education began early on at Mills High School while taking a course in Early Childhood Education and working at their on-site preschool. It was there she felt she found her calling in working with children. She volunteered and eventually worked at Burlingame Montessori for two years. Heidi attended Canada College where she received her Early Childhood Education Certificate. She saw a difference in what the kids were getting out of a Montessori education, which motivated her to further her education at The Montessori Teachers College of San Diego. During Heidi’s academic career, she interned at Taproot Montessori, in San Diego. After she finished school Heidi moved back to the Bay Area and began working at Discovery Montessori where she met Mary DeLoach, the MGM head teacher at that time. Heidi spends her free time with family, which includes her husband and 2 children. She enjoys watching her children play soccer and baseball, as well as coaching her daughters softball team.
Ms. Cleo (Teacher Aide)
Ms. Cleo studied Early Childhood Education at Canada College. She received her Certification and AA in Early Childhood Education and Childhood Development. Cleo has always had a passion for teaching, and is so happy to be working at Morning Glory Montessori. Cleo is also working towards receiving her Montessori credential, at The Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay Area. One of the things she loves most about teaching is watching her students discover their passions with the wide range of activities they do on a daily basis. Everyday is new and fun at MGM! In Cleo’s free time, she enjoys going on hikes, traveling to new places, and being with her family, fiancé and three cats!
Ms. Lacey Velasquez (Substitute Teacher)
Lacey started working at Morning Glory in the summer of 2001.While still enrolled in high school, Lacey took child development classes and received credits from College of San Mateo in Early Childhood Development. In 2003, Lacey began to work as a full-time teaching assistant at Morning Glory alongside her grandmother. She later received Montessori training in sensorial, practical life and language from sister Christina and a certificate from Chabot College. Her favorite part of working with children is seeing them grow and develop over the years. Lacey loves art, spending time with her three children, coaching her daughter softball team, and helping animals.
Mrs. Laura Wentworth (Teacher)
Laura earned her B.S. in Child Development from San Francisco State University. She has been working with children from ages 1 to 5 in the Bay Area for over 30 years, enjoying every minute in a variety of settings from teaching parent education to full-time daycare centers. She has recently graduated from the pre-primary level at the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. She loves being a part of the Morning Glory community. Laura has always been interested in the teachings and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of and learn all about the Montessori education. Although Laura completely loves her career choice, her biggest joy is her three children and husband. Laura enjoys spending time with her friends, reading, gardening and weekend getaways.
